GM: Since the movie (POTC) deals with the supernatural curses and
superstitions, are you superstitious?
OB: Yeah, probably a little bit but without wanting to be. I remember when I
was a kid, my sister used to say if you see two magpies, it's for joy, but
if you see only one, it's bad luck. So my sister used to say, "If you see a
magpie, you have to say, 'Hello, Mr Magpie. How's Mrs Magpie and all the
other magpies 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.' So now, every time I see a
magpie, I say, 'Hey Mr Magpie...' to release the curse. Am I superstitious?
Probably just because I got trained by my sister as a kid.
GM: You celebrated your 25th birthday (should be 26th) on set. How much fun
was that?
OB: They got me a huge cake from that Sweet Lady Jane place. Huge. It was
very tasty, but I had a quiet evening because I had to work the next day.
GM: No partying?
OB: No, not really. I am not big on partying at the moment.
GM: No presents?
OB: A few. I got a journal. My cousin gave me a few (photo) prints. He's a
photographer so he just took a few prints and gave me a few. I can't really
remember. Just books, you know, things like that. No Ferraris.
GM: What music are you listening to at the moment?
OB: Anything really good. Music is so diverse, anything really good, I love.
GM: Such as?
OB: I love Coldplay, Radiohead, those sort of people.
Accompanying him (OB) at the press conference was a young man who claims to
be his secretary. However, rumour has it that he's dating Kate Bosworth of
Blue Crush. Keira, however, denied she had a boyfriend on the set (of POTC).
And their chemistry in the movie was palpable.
NOTE: The part about Keira's boyfriend was related to a earlier question in the
article. OB was asked whether there was budding romance on the set. He said
no and that Keira's boyfriend was always around.
