Friendly Bloom Poses on WA Beach

A young WA holidaymaker was tickled pink after getting a photo for the family album featuring Hollywood heart-throb Orlando Bloom, who was on a short break in Broome with his model partner Miranda Kerr.

From thewest.com.au: Vivienne Ryan told The West Australian that Bloom wandered virtually unnoticed past Broome’s beachside cafes last week while Kerr was on assignment. He was happy to stop and pose for a photograph with her four-year-old niece.

“He was just so lovely and sweet and gladly took Lily in his arms for a picture,” Ms Ryan said. “He made Lily feel very comfortable and seemed to be a complete natural with children. He said it was his first time in Broome, they were having a lovely time and told us to have a good holiday.”

Sympathy for Delicious Early Review

An actress who had a minor role in Sympathy for Delicious, has posted a review of an early cut of the film on her blog. She states: “Orlando Bloom was really good, and completely different from what people have seen him do so far.”

The Cross Update

From abc.net.au: French actor Vincent Cassel, who featured in Ocean’s 12, is to head to Australia soon to film a sci-fi movie starring Orlando Bloom and Bond girl Olga Kurylenko.

The multi-national cast, which also includes US actor John Goodman, will appear in The Cross by New Zealand-born director Andrew Niccol, whose credits include Gattaca and Lord Of War. The title of the new film “is a sort of metaphor on borders in general,” Cassel told AFP.

Cassel explained that Bloom is to star as a man determined to cross the frontier, while he will play the antagonist just as committed to stopping him. Kurylenko - the Ukrainian-born actress who starred in the latest James Bond flick, Quantum Of Solace - incarnates their mutual love interest. Cassel says filming will begin in the next few months.

Bloom’s Mother Holds Charity Sale

From bbc.co.uk: The mother of actor Orlando Bloom plans to clear out some of his possessions so she can raise money for charity. Sonia Copeland-Bloom said she decided to sell items because they were taking up too much room in her Kent home. She wants to raise funds for the £25.6m redevelopment of the Marlowe Theatre and a number of other charities.

Ms Copeland-Bloom said: “We’ve got a wetsuit that he wore when he was filming with the hobbits. This was off-screen, I must say. He was very keen on surfing in New Zealand. You can see that they’ve still got the sea and the sand on those.”

She added: “I visited the set in Wellington, New Zealand, several times. It was wonderful always when I went on there. I was given this [signed Lord of the Rings] poster and however much I treasure it I think if it could make some money for some of the charities I support it would be a good thing.”

From guardian.co.uk: Orlando Bloom’s mother is selling some of the costumes he wore while filming the Lord of the Rings trilogy in an attempt to clear out his room before she moves house. Sonia Copeland Bloom said he didn’t mind – as long as the proceeds went to charity.

Among the items up for grabs are a bodyline wetsuit used by Bloom, 32, when he filmed a scene with Elijah Wood in The Return of the King and a poster signed by the entire cast. A pair of Moroccan slippers and boots he wore in The Kingdom of Heaven could also entice film buffs.

But fans of Bloom – who now lives in west London – can also get their hands on more personal items such as the badminton and tennis racquets he used as a boy. Gucci shoes, Puma trainers, polo shirts and a hooded waterproof Gap jacket belonging to the star will also be auctioned. Sonia Copeland Bloom said: “We are inviting people to send us bids, of which the top ones will be invited to see the items before submitting a further sealed bid.”

She said any cash raised will be divided between four charities, Unesco, the New Marlow Theatre, cancer charity Odyssey and the UKC Music Scholarships.

Orlando Bloom Escapes Unscathed in Car Crash

From sify.com: Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom escaped unscathed when he had a car crash in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The crash took place just streets away from the place where the The Pirates of the Caribbean star had met with an accident in 2007. According to TMZ.com, Bloom’s car collided with another vehicle, but he did not suffer any visible injuries. The actor and that other motorist swapped insurance details before driving away from the scene, reports Contactmusic.

Fourth ‘Pirates’ to Focus on Johnny Depp

From softpedia.com: The fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film is happening, with or without stars Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. With neither of these two yet on board, and director Gore Verbinski officially out of the picture, producer Jerry Bruckheimer tells HitFlix that the upcoming installment can certainly count on Johnny Depp, on whose character the entire story will be centered.

Speculation of the fourth film has been making the rounds for many months, but it’s just now that Bruckheimer is speaking out on it, revealing details on what’s next for the highly successfully franchise. From what the renowned producer is saying, it might very well just happen that “Pirates 4” will not see Knightley and Bloom back, but at least fans will be pleased to know that Captain Jack Sparrow will be taking center stage.

Hobbit Update

From nznolder.blogspot.com: Viggo Mortensen was spotted in New Zealand - I can confirm that, as at least one of my spies spoke to him directly. Apparently he was here working on The Hobbit, and preparing for a small cameo in the second movie when he needs to reprise his role as a dunedain ranger, guarding the Shire against passing baddies.

What we can also take away from that is the fact that they’re happily re-inserting characters that didn’t get a (specific) mention in the Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” book, which means that the chances of (for instance) Gimli and Legolas re-appearing are also now significantly higher.

Red Circle Update

Orlando has been rumored to be starring in Red Circle. This is from an interview with the writer/direct:

THR: Early preparations started on “Red Circle” and then stopped. Is the picture ever going to happen?

To: It needs time. I’m not satisfied with the script and if I’m not satisfied nobody else is going to be. But it is absolutely one of my priorities as you can see (points to the wall where script notes are plastered.) “Death of a Hostage,” which is a Hong Kong production through Media Asia, is probably what I’ll shoot next. Then, hopefully, “Red Circle.”
